Ep.3 The Canary Caper

On one Summer’s morning, it’s Thursday, Dink and Josh were ready to go to the circus. It was held in high school baseball field for 5 days.

Especially, On Thursday’s Ticket was sold in half price until 1 O’clock.

So they hurried to get the one cheap and to take Ruth with them.

At that moment the Phone rang, Dink answered the phone. It was Mrs. Davis call.

She told him her Canary called Mozart escaped from the cage at last night and asked for them came into her house searching for missing bird.

They walked out from the Dink’s house and went to the her house with Ruth.

When they arrived there, Mrs. Davis stood in front of doorway, looked so sad.

She told them the Canary disappeared in a moment before she fed to it, so the kids were split and looked around the backyard to find Mozart’s trail

But there no was.

Dink through it was better to find her Canary first, than to do another plans.

But Mrs. didn’t wanted they do like that, it was too sorry to cancel their plan.

So Dink promised her they had to come back here and started running to the ticket box in school, hurrying to get a cheap one.

They arrived there at 5 minutes after 1 O’clock but ticket lady gave the 3 tickets to them in half price.

And then, looked around slowly animals what trained their trainers, and clown dressed as a giraffe with yellow suspenders and danced on a pair of stilts.

For a while, Ruth Rose should be back to her house so that she took care of her younger brother, instead of their mom.

Dink suddenly remembered that his mom allowed him to set up the tent in backyard whenever he wanted to do.

So they went toward the backyard of Dink’s house.

While two boys were pitching Dink’s tent, Ruth came to there making a sad face.

She told them that her cat called Tiger had been missing since the morning.

Early the next morning, Ruth woke up and prepared to go to the police station for reporting Tiger and Canary had been missed.

She walked away from Dink’s lawn in halfway, stopped to walk and started pacing forth and back with serious look.

A few minutes later, she stopped doing and said looking at them with a stern look on her face that missed animals must had been kidnapped by someone, not wandered off.

That’s because both the day and street what the animals disappeared completely matched.

Then the kids went to the police station together.

As soon as they explained their problems to the Officer Fallon, he told them another cases that were already reported by other people.

There were kidnapped animals in Green Lawn totally 4 and all disappeared yesterday.

Ruth was sure of her thinking was right.

Fallon already doubted about these cases. So he promised them if he found anything he would let them know.

They back to street then Josh suggested they came to Mrs Wang’s shop

Because someone often brought stray pets into her house, he might think she took care of Tiger and Mozart.

But, He missed his tip! she didn’t that, the Tiger had still gone.

Ruth worried about them, didn’t want Tiger in some experiments.

First, they went to the Gwynn’s house who lost her parrot, Archie last day.

The kids told her Officer’s words and looked around there, then she was very shocked why this crime had happened to her in Green Lawn.

Ruth asked her Dr. Phadue’s address to find out how her rabbit disappeared, Mrs. Gwynn gave it to them.

The kids felt that these cases was something weird and went to the Dr. Pardue’s house.

They lost their pet when they finished lunch yesterday, then the kids look around rabbit cage, too.

They tried to do their best, but there were no special things in both houses.

As they walked back to street, when to the Mrs. Davis’s house again to tell to her about the other’s kidnapping problems.

But, when they arrived there she had a big smile differently before and told them that she received a call from someone who found Mozart at some place.

And who promised to come(that would come) to her house with Mozart at 6:30 P.M.

So she prepared to make some shortcakes to celebrate Mozart’s return, also invited the kids for thanks to all of their trying to find Mozart.

The two boys smiled with relief hearing that news, too.

But Ruth doubted the man who called to Mrs. Davis how he knew that Mozart belonged to then she soon concluded it was just for a reward money!

After supper, the kids gathered again to go to the Mrs. Davis house.

Shortly after they arrived in her house, the doorbell chimed again, a man stood in front of the door with grinning.

He hugged a small box, as Mrs. Davis welcomed him gladly, opened the box and took place Mozart in his cage.

He’s name was Fred Little who was staying in Green Lawn to look for a job.

Ruth had a little doubted the words of him and Josh thought when he had met Fred before but he didn’t know exactly.

Mrs. Davis handed a reward to him, but he refused it politely. The kids were confused.

A celebration party was gone, the kids came back to their own house except Josh who walked to the Dink’ s tent.

Ruth’s Tiger didn’t has returned home yet, even the sky was raining.

They wondered who had stolen pets on the same day and why did like that.

Ruth had still thought it was just for a money.

As the night was getting more and more, Ruth just wished her cat came back home quickly.

The next morning, she work up Dink and Josh, showed the one paragraph of article that circled by red pen of Local Area Crimes of Sunday Morning Gazette, Newspapaer.

It was said two Green Lawn homes of Dr. Pardue and The Gwynn were burglarized on Saturday night by persons unknown.

There were a damage of value items, Police were investigating about that cases.

Dink felt a stink about that article and arranged his thoughts that someone had lost their pet first and then next time who were also stolen something in their house.

It just all seems to connect at once, but there were another exceptions, Mrs. Davis’s and Ruth’s house didn’t be stolen anything yet.

A lot of question let the kids went to the house of the Pardue’s and Gwynn’s again to find out the clues what the burglar left.

When they arrived Dr. Gwynn’s house Mr. Gwynn told them that Young man had found his parrot and brought it to him so he had a dinner with his family out of house to celebrate its return the afternoon before.

But, when they came back home, the burglars had already passed through his house.

The kids were sure to their thoughts and went to the Pardue’s house.

First, Ruth asked Pardue the rabbit what they had lost returned her house before that was stolen by robber.

Dr. Pardue answered “yes” in surprise, the only difference was that young couple who brought her rabbit.

Ruth certainly thought the pet-nappers and the robbers were the same.

And they assumed Mrs. Davis or Ruth’s house was next aim, but Ruth’s cat didn’t come back home yet.

The kids ran into the Police Station right so that they asked to help what to protect Mrs. Davis house safely before the burglars came in again.

Ruth reported their own investigation about the burglars work planning to the Fallon, he received full briefing to her then agreed that and knew about exactly time when pets back home.

The kids also told him what had happened last Friday in Mrs. Davis house and as they described Fred Little’s look, Fallon took more notes.

Officer promised them that they would start to look for Fred, but now there was a lack of evidence to prove his guilty. It was too hard to arrest him so they needed more clues.

Fallon let them down and led to the door said thanks to give an information about the suspect.

when they were outside, Josh suggested others how about going the circus with the free tickets what Fallon gave them before.

In the circus field, they whet into the clown tent.

The clowns on playing dressed as fire fighters as woman clown started yelling and asked to help.

Then suddenly superman clown wearing a cape and suspenders appeared on stage standing on stilts, he saved a woman from the burning building.

While the show was going, Ruth thought about how they helped cops and decided to stakeout at the backyard of Davis house.

A few hours later, Dink and Josh waited Ruth’s back in Dink’s tent wearing black colored clothes over their body.

Short later, Ruth came in the tent she also in black even the kids smeared the shoe polish over their face except the eyes.

They sliped off the tent, went to the backyard of Davis house silently and hid between the bushes and trees.

Every few minutes Dink checked his watch, when it was over 11 o’clock two boys nearly fell asleep but Ruth was still on alert.

They tried to awake from sleep, eating some cookies. At that time, Dink saw something move in the shadows next to the house.

They felt excitement and crouched deeper between the bushes.

When the prowler disppeared in seconds and returned there again, Dink saw he’s face directly.

Surprisingly, he was Fred Little, the Canary guy!

The kids shrink into the dark space behind the bushes and trees, their heart thudded quickly.

When he walked to them closed, taking off his jacket and Dink also saw his yellow suspenders what the same thing of the superman clown.

Josh remembered for the first time when he met Fred Little before.

Just then Fred opened his bag and pulled the rope, looped it around his neck.

And he had brought a pair of stilts then used them to reach under a small window on the 2

floor and he slipped through the window like a sneak.

When the rope uncoiled from the window, the kids just watching that situation wondered how he came down to the ground.

But they didn’t know what to do because Mrs. Davis was in there with him, so just waited until he came down from the window.

At that moment, Suddenly the window the burglar slipped through light turned on. Then someone shouted a scream aloud. As the same time, a police whistle blared through the open window.

A few later, Fred Little appeared at the window and was climbing down to escape, but he dropped onto the ground.

A police cruiser roared on Mrs. Davis’s lawn flashing their lights. She’s backyard explored in color and noise as if where to play fireworks.

As Officer Fallon and Keene leaped out toward the burglar who dropped on the ground right before.

The noise stopped in sconds, Fred was worn handcuffs by the cop.

Mrs. Davis marched to him with her sword. Dink thought she might be used it to him so they crawled out from the bushes.

Everyone in there was surprised to the kids in black especially looking at their face.

Ruth didn’t mind and went toward Fred to ask where her cat was. But he never know about that even he also had a allergy to cat.

Then right that time, Fallon asked her why the kids were.

She told him they thought someone must be come in Davis house again, and wanted to get clues for help the cop to arrest the burglar.

Fallon stenly look at Dink and prepared to take them into their house by the police car.

But Mrs. Davis wished they stayed just a moment in her house eating some cookies and cocoa if they were ok.

As soon as her words finished the kids followed her into the Kitchen and saw Mozart put people in a lot of trouble and also helped them to solve the serial of robbery.

Fred Little belonged to the circus.

When he was traveling with the circus and robbed house in the town where he visited and he always do like this way.

He already knew where window had been unlocked when he asked where the bathroom was before.

Soon Officer Keene knocked the door.

He and Fallon dropped the kids off their house and promised with them to go to bed right.

After the cruiser drove away, Ruth told them her cat didn’t return her house yet.

Fred said right.

Dink and Josh promised her they should find Tiger with her in the next morning, said “good-night” to Ruth and back to tent.

A little time later, suddenly Ruth ran through into the tent and yelled them with big smile.

Two kids wondered why she did like that. She said them, flopping next to Dink her cat returned home and sat on her bed.

As Ruth hugged her in her arms, she hopped down and crawled under the bed.

When Ruth followed her and looked down under the bed, the three kittens were in there with their mom, Tiger.

Inspire Ruth very young, she already be a grandmother of her kittens.
