A white snowy owl was sitting on a tree branch outside window of Jack's room in the dark. It was a sign that Jack and Annie would go to the woods now. Wearing pajamas, they went to follow the owl to the magic tree house. In the dark, it didn't even feel like their woods. It was creepy.

Morgan was waiting for them in the tree house and holding three scrolls. Each one held the answer to an ancient riddle that Jack and Annie had already solved. She handed a fourth scroll with a riddle on it and gave a book, ADVENTURE IN THE ARCTIC.

After solving the riddle, they would become Master Librarians.

When they landed on the ice, they unrolled the scroll. The riddle was that "I cover what's real and hide what's true, but sometimes I bring out the courage in you."

Soon a seal hunter came to the tree house with warm clothes made of seal skin. He had had a dream in which Jack and Annie needed help.

All of them climbed on a sled which nine Siberian Huskies pulled, then the huskies dashed off in a whirl of snow. The dogsled skimmed over the frozen tundra.

All reached a rounded igloo which meant house. The seal hunter had carved masks for the ceremony, because soon there would be a ceremony to honor the spirit of the polar bear. Just as the seal has given them many gifts, so has the polar bear. Long ago the polar bear taught them how to live in the ice and snow. The seal hunter said sometimes the polar bear could even teach people to fly. But, how to fly?

That's why he wasn't surprised to hear about the tree house, Jack thought. If he believes polar can fly, he probably would believe anything, too.

As Jack picked carved mask up to get a better look, suddenly howls split the air and dogs were barking and growling, and Annie squealed outside. It was because of polar bear babies.

They played tag and ran over the white tundra until they came to the frozen sea with two bear cubs, pretty far from the igloo.

When all of them was tired, all lay dawn onto the ice-covered sea. That was when, crack rang out! As all of them were not even moving and ice was cracking, staring down at them was the giant polar bear mother.

The mother polar bear stretched out her four legs on the ice. Even though a female polar bear weighed about 750 pounds, she can walk on ice too thin to hold a person. Slowly she moved forward, pushing herself with her claws to her little bears. Then the cubs crawled onto her back.

Jack and Annie slipped on the polar mask which Jack took without realizing from igloo. They thought the mask might protect them and the mother bear would think they are polar bear, too.

The mother bear slowly turned and bushed off with her hind legs. With her cubs on her back, she began sliding away. Jack and Annie tried moving as she did. They lay on his stomach and spreaded out their arms and legs. The masks made them brave, just then they felt like a polar bear and a flying polar bear, too. Jack remembered that the seal hunter had said that polar bears can fly.

At last, the five of them were on safe ground. Jack and Annie thanked the polar bear spirit and beyond the moon and the stars, and beyond the deepest sea as well.

Soon the seal hunter looked for them. As Jack and Annie were telling him about the story with bears, they realized the answer of riddle. That was MASK!

The hunter took them back to the tree house, then they said the answer and wished to go back their woods. But nothing happened and then they saw a fifth scroll and unrolled it. They looked at the letters of the answers so far, OYSTER, ECHO, HONEY, and MASK, their first letters was O-E-H-M. Answer of the fifth riddle, which was the place we loved the best, was HOME.

They would be able to go back.

Finally, they get Magic Library cards from Morgan because they had solved all their riddles and succeeded in their quest.

On their way home, the woods didn't feel scary like they did before. They felt that the darkness was like a mask, which hides the day but brings out your courage.
