-1- The “M” Things
“Let’s go to the tree house,” said Annie.
“ 나무 집으로 가자” 애니가 말했다.
She and Jack were passing the Frog Creek woods on their way home from their swimming class at the Y.
그녀와 잭은 프록 크리크 숲을 지나 그들의 집으로 가는 길이었다. Y에서 있었던 그들의 수영 수업으로 부터.
“No. I want to go home and change out of my bathing suit,” said Jack.
“아니. 나는 집에가서 수영복을 갈아입고 싶어.” 잭이 말했다.
“Oh, that’ll take too long,” said Annie. “Don’t you want to save Morgan as soon as possible?”
“오, 그건 너무 오래걸려,” 애니가 말했다. “너는 모건을 구하고 싶지 않니? 가능한 빨리?”
“Of course,” said Jack.
“그러고 싶지” 잭이 말했다.
“Then come on! Before the sun sets!” said Annie.
“그럼 가자! 해가 지기전에!” 애니가 말했다.
She darted into the woods.
그녀는 숲 안쪽으로 쏜살같이 달렸다.
Jack sighed. He gave up on the idea of changing out of his bathing suit.
잭은 한숨셨다. 그는 그의 수영복을 갈아 입겠다는 생각을 포기했다.
He pushed his glasses into place. He followed Annie into the Frog Creek woods.
그는 그의 안경을 고쳐 썼다. 가는 애니를 따라 프록 크리크 숲 안으로 갔다.
The warm air smelled fresh and green.
따뜻한 공기는 신선한 냄새가 났고 초록빛이 났다.
He moved through patches of sunlight and shadow. Soon he came to a small clearing.
그는 햇빛과 그림자 조각을 통과하며 지나갔다. 곧 그는 작은 숲속 빈터에 도착했다.
He looked up. There it was. The magic tree house in the tallest tree in the woods.
그는 올려다 보았다. 그곳에 있었다. 그 마법의 나무 집이 가장 키가컸다. 숲에서
“Hurry!” called Annie. She was climbing the rope ladder up to the tree house.
“서둘러!” 애니가 외쳤다. 그녀는 나무 집 쪽으로 로프 사다리를 오르고 있었다.
Jack grabbed the ladder. He stared up after her.
잭은 사다리를 잡았다. 그는 그녀 이후에 올려다 보았다.
Finally the reached the tree house.
마침내 나무 집에 다달았다.
Squeak. A mouse sat on the window sill.
찍. 생쥐는 창틀에 앉아있었다.
“Hi, Peanut!” cried Annie. Jack patted the tiny head.
“안녕, 땅콩아!” 애니가 외쳤다. 잭은 작은 머리를 쓰다듬었다.
“Sorry we didn’t come sooner,” Annie said. “But we had to go to our swimming lesson.”
“미안해 우리가 빨리 오지 못했어,” 애니가 말했다. “ 그렇지만 우리는 우리 수영 수업에 가야했어.”
Squeak.
찍.
“What happened while we were gone?” asked Annie, looking around the tree house.
“우리가 없는 동안 무슨일이 일어났었니?” 애니가 물었다. 나무 집을 둘러보며.
Jack stared at the large M carved into the wooden floor.
잭은 큰 M자가 나무 바닥에 새겨져 있는것을 응시했다.
On the M were a moonstone and a mango, the special things they’d found on their last two journeys.
M위에는 월정석과 망고가 있었다. 특별한 물건들을 그들은 찾았다. 그들의 지난 두 여정에서.
“Hey, guess what?” said Jack.
“여기봐봐, 맞춰봐(이게 뭐게)?” 잭이 말했다.
“Moonstone and mango start with the letter M. Just like Morgan.”
“월정석과 망고는 글자M 으로 시작되. 모건처럼.”
“You,re right,” said Annie.
“니말이 맞아” 애니가 말했다.
“I bet all four things start with an M,” said Jack.
“나는 확신에 모든 4가지 물건이 M으로 시작된다고.” 잭이 말했다.
“Right,” said Annie. “I wonder where we’ll find the next one.”
“맞아.” 애니가 말했다. “나는 궁금해 어디에서 우리가 다음 것을 찾을지”
She and Jack stared at the stacks of books in the tree house.
그녀와 잭은 응시했다. 책이 쌓여있는 곳을 나무 집 안에서.
Books on the Amazon rainforest, ninjas, pirates, mummies, knights, and dinosaurs.
책들은 아마존 열대우림, 닌자, 해적들, 미라, 기사와 공룡에 관한 것들이다.
All of them were closed. Only one book lay open in the corner.
그것들 전부는 닫혀있었다. 오직 한 책이 코너에 열린채로 놓여있었다.
“We’re just about to find out,” said Jack.
“우리는 찾아봐야겠어(알아봐야겠어)”. 잭이 말했다.
They walked over to the open book.
그들은 걸었다. 열린 책쪽으로
They looked at the page the book was opened to.
그들은 보았다. 그 페이지를 그 책이 열려있는
It showed a picture of rocks and snow.
그것은 보여주었다. 그림을 돌들과 눈이 있는
“Wow,” said Annie, running her finger over the picture.
“와,” 애니가 말했다. 움직이며 그녀의 손가락을 그림위로
“I love snow. I wish we could go there right now.”
“난 눈이 좋아. 나는 희망해 우리가 그곳으로 바로 지금 가길”
“Wait.,” said Jack. “We’re not prepared.” Then he had another thought.
“잠시” 잭이 말했다. “우리는 준비가 안됐어.” 그때 그는 다른 생각을 했다.
“And we’re wearing our bathing suits! Stop!”
“그리고 우리는 우리 수영복을 입고 있잖아! 멈춰!”
“Oops,” said Annie.
“오우” 애니가 말했다.
Too late. The wind started to blow. The leaves started shake. The tree house started to spin.
너무 늦었다. 바람은 불기 시작했다. 나뭇잎들은 흔들리기 시작했다. 나무집은 돌기 시작했다.
It spun faster and faster! Then everything was silent. It was silent as the falling snow.
빨리 더빨리 돌았다. 그때 모든것은 조용했다. 눈이 떨어지는 것처럼 조용했다.
- (7-1) 줄거리(story line)-
그날은 따뜻한 날 이였다. 잭과 애니는 수영수업을 마치고 집으로 돌아오는 길이였다.
That day was warm. Jack and Annie was the way go home after their swimming lesson at the Y.
애니는 잭에게 트리하우스로 가자고 말했다.
Annie said to jack. “Let’s go to the tree house right now.”
잭은 수영복을 갈아입고 싶어서 집으로 가자고 말했다.
Jack doesn't want to go to the tree house. because first he wanted to put off his bathing suit.
애니는 잭에게 모건을 빨리 구하자면서 트리하우스로 달려갔다.
Annie darted to the tree house saying to Jack “Let’s save Morgan as soon as possible.”
잭은 한숨을 쉬며 애니를 뒤따라 갔다.
Jack sighed and followed Annie.
그리고 그곳에서 애니와 잭은 열려져 있는 책을 발견했다.
And then Annie and Jack found the opened book at there.
열려져 있는 책에 있는 그림은 눈과 돌이 그려져 있었다.
In the picture of the opened book was painted rocks and snow.
애니는 그곳으로 가고 싶다고 책에 손가락을 놓을 상태로 말했다.
Annie said, she want to go there pointing on the picture.
잭은 준비가 되지 않았다고 말했지만 그때는 이미 너무 늦었었다.
Jack said, they are not prepared. but then was too late already .
이미 트리하우스는 돌고 있었다.
The tree house was already spinning.
